Strong like her

I had the opportunity to be both an editor and contributing author for the academic journal, The Journal of Student Leadership.

I wrote this poem for the Journal with the hope to reiterate and reflect on the strength and capacity of not only women but the human spirit.

To remind us all that human strength goes beyond something even human.

That women continue to break stereotypes and barriers, being both fierce and gentle; ambitious and compassionate; brave and humble.

That we, as women and men, have accomplished and overcome the impossible. The unbearable.

That we're a team. We need each other.

That we're equally strong.

Equally capable.

But together, we're something even more.

More than any pain, abuse, and affliction, past, present, or future.
